Emile Henry - Flame® Cookware
About
Flame® cookware is made from ceramic, specially developed to resist against any source of direct heat and are safe for use on Gas, electric and halogen. The Emile Henry induction plate will also allow their use with induction cooking. (This item must be purchased seperately). Completely ovenproof and safe to use under the grill/broiler.
All Flame® cookware is freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe. For baked on grime Emile Henry recommend soaking for 20 mins prior to normal cleaning.
The specially designed lids ensure that the condensation created steam inside the stewpot is directed back into the pot. This prevents the food drying out and keeps the flavours sealed in. Many items in the range have small, raised feet on the bottom of the product. These spread the heat and allow for even cooking.
Usage
Prior to first use pour into the product enough milk (or soya milk) to cover the bottom and bring to the boil. Remove from heat and leave to cool before cleaning as normal. This process can also be done using 1L of water with 1/2 cup of rice although you will need to let it simmer for 5 minutes.
When heated your Flame® cookware will expand slightly, creating small, thin cracks in the glaze which are more visible on light coloured items. These cracks are normal and are proof of the ceramic's resistance to temperature change. Carrying out the above process seals these tiny cracks to prolong the life of your product.
Care should be taken when handling as the handles will be hot if used in the oven or if the heat source touches the vertical sides of the stewpot.
Storage
Flame cookware should be thoroughly dried and stored with the lids (where included) slightly off centre so that the air can circulate inside.
